Our story

Wholey Crêpe

Inspired by a French family connection, Wholey Crêpe® was founded in 2011 from a passion for fine food and the unique chemistry of flavour that comes with it. Founders Mark and Rich were also fuelled by the desire to provide a wholesome crêpe recipe for customers, and in doing so came up with a gluten free recipe for those who either need to, or have chosen to sustain themselves with a gluten free diet. Wholey Crêpe® strive to support and encourage awareness of gluten free living and are proud to provide those with coeliac an alternative option, wherever our mobile crêpe vendors may be. Our employees are all engaging individuals who, like us, promote nutritious living and are always more than happy to explain the ethos behind the Wholey Crêpe®.

HEALTHY APPROACH

If you have ever heard “you are what you eat” nothing could be more appropriate than enjoying food on the run or when you are out and about enjoying the day at a farmers market. Wholey Crepe builds on the premise of Wholesome and Gluten-free as an option you can have without being forced into unhealthy eating choices just because it is food in a mobile environment. Our approach is healthy wholesome artisan food cooked for you when you are out enjoying your day. Bon appetite.

FRENCH CUISINE

The word crêpe is a french word which means “curled” which is the type of hand art form that it has become to create this thin pancake. Swirled onto the hot buttered circular flat iron pan, the Wholey Crepe batter is thinly spread and cooked golden by our skilled crepiere. Our secret recipe, based on the Brittany roots of the “ble noir” (buckwheat) galette gives it a distinctive flavour that still lends itself to use in either a sweet or savoury fillings of your choice.

GLUTEN FREE

Some people experience sensitivity to the protein of Gluten usually found in wheat, barley and rye. The gluten intolerance in its extreme form can affect the digestive system by an auto-immune disorder like celiac disease. A gluten-free diet can have a variety of health benefits, such as improving cholesterol levels, promoting digestive health, and increasing energy levels. Wholey Crepe provides hand made gluten-free crepes using ingredients like Buckwheat (which is actually a fruit seed that is related to rhubarb and sorrel) making it a suitable substitute for grains for people who are sensitive to wheat or other grains that contain protein glutens.

We are proud of the food that we produce for you, so we will take the time to prepare it and deliver it the way you want. Sometimes this translates to a little bit of time and that’s why we say “Choose” from our menu “Relax” and enjoy your day and then “Enjoy” what we have created for you.
